FEBRUARY 16, 2023 COLD PLUNGES

I listen to a daily podcast on my commute to New York City. I listen to many, but my favorite is Dr Rangan Chatterjee’s FEEL BETTER LIVE MORE. From listening I have bought many books and read those of his experts who were on the show

I listening to his podcast with Susana Soberg earlier in this year. She is the author of Winter Swimming which is a must book for your library. It is The Nordic Way Towards a Healthier and Happier Life It discusses the medical benefits to cold water plunging. It discusses the benefit for your neurotransmitters as serotonin and dopamine.

Although I live close to the Long Island Sound ( 2 blocks away ) I didn’t want to plunge in the Sound. I decided to do cold water showers. I mean I take a hot shower and the last 30 seconds I switch to cold. I did one week of 30 seconds, then one week of 60 seconds, and now on my fourth week of 90 seconds. It has changed the way I feel in the morning. I go to bed about 8:30 - 9 am and get up at five every morning.

I feel the benefits as described. I also am turning yellow fat to brown fat which has its own benefits.
