OCTOBER 7, 2020 A GREEN COMMUNITY

It is difficult to be be green . It is much easier now that I reside in Connecticut. It is hard while living in NYC. It was even harder living the summers in Fire Island. I opened a store called Simply Green We sold all items which were green including detergents, soaps, cleaning supplies. We also tried to get island residents to compost. It was difficult and frustrating. More frustrating was that residents complained that I kept honeybees

There are many communities throughout the United States and Europe that have turned Green. There is one community that is vibrant to live. It is called Wake Robin in Vermont. Now that’s a state. At Wake Robin Life Plan Community the residents learn to compost, plant gardens, and use locally grown foods. In addition in the early part of the spring season they make maple syrup and each Fall they harvest honey from their honeybees on the property. Now this is a dream. Check out www.wakerobin.com

I am becoming more green than I have ever been. In addition to buying organics I try to shop our green markets. We have a green market every Saturday in Black Rock at St Ann’s Grounds on Brewster Ave. I compost daily. Most importantly I keep bee hives in my yard.

Until tomorrow…
