October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, an annual campaign to increase awareness of the disease

The same holds true when it comes to breast cancer. There are many ways you can help besides wearing “ pink “ From campaigning, to volunteering and even fundraising , to our life-changing care, support and world-class research - Many groups go all out to raise money, raise awareness and make sure people affected by breast cancer know we’re here for them.

Do you know your risk of breast cancer? I am all about prevention and awareness. I am also about educating my patients by providing information on this blog. I provide genetic testing through Myriad. You should find out about Myriad my Risk Hereditary Cancer testing that is available and most likely if you meet criteria will be paid through your insurance.

Breast cancer is the second leading cause of cancer related deaths among American women. Women can have certain genetic mutations . These women with mutations have up to a 87 % risk of developing breast cancer by age 70. Up to 10% of all breast cancer is caused by genetic mutations. Most breast cancer is environmental and toxins in the world. These genetic mutations can be passed down from the mother’s or father’s side of the family
